About the APEX Fellowship

APEX Fellowships offer structured and mentored support to students engaged in unpaid or underpaid (<$15.00/hour) summer internships or vocational exploration programs. This competitive award allows students opportunities to gain valuable experience in their field of interest, network with professionals, and reflect on their experience and how it pertains to their future goals and plans.

APEX Fellows can receive up to $4,000 for experiences lasting at least 6 weeks and 225 hours.

 APEX Fellowships may only take place between May 13, 2026 – August 18, 2026.

If you already have your internship finalized and/or need to know whether you have funding before Spring Break, submit by this date

April 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

If you are still finalizing details or need Spring Break to firm up agreements, submit by this date.

Getting Started

Before beginning this process, learn about eligibility requirements, how funding works, and an overview of the APEX Fellowship experience. 

Find an internship or vocational experience that you are interested in obtaining. 

  • Use your network to talk to people in your field of interest
  • Contact alumni through Ask a Scot
  • Use Handshake & LinkedIn to find opportunities
  • Meet with Career Planning and Experiential Learning staff to help brainstorm ways to find internships

  • Schedule a 1-on-1 appointment with the Associate Director of Experiential Learning, Denise Rotavera-Krain
  • Attend weekly Walk-In Wednesday drop-in hours 1:30-4:00PM
  • Meet with a Peer Advisor Monday-Friday 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  Drop in or make an appointment
  • Meet with Career Planning staff for help with your resume and/or LinkedIn profile
