About the APEX Fellowship

APEX Fellowships offer structured and mentored support to students engaged in unpaid or underpaid (<$15.00/hour) summer internships or vocational exploration programs. This competitive award allows students opportunities to gain valuable experience in their field of interest, network with professionals, and reflect on their experience and how it pertains to their future goals and plans.

APEX Fellows can receive up to $4,000 for experiences lasting at least 6 weeks and 225 hours.

APEX Fellowships may only take place between May 14, 2025 – August 19, 2025.

Getting Started

Before beginning this process, learn about eligibility requirements, how funding works, and an overview of the APEX Fellowship experience.

Find an internship or vocational experience that you are interested in obtaining.

  • Use your network to talk to people in your field of interest
  • Contact alumni through Ask a Scot
  • Use Handshake & LinkedIn to find opportunities
  • Meet with Career Planning and Experiential Learning staff to help brainstorm ways to find internships

Once accepted by a host organization, have them fill out the Program/Internship Agreement.  When the host organization submits it, you will get a copy (check your junk/spam folders).  Upload the agreement to your application.

In addition to the application questions, you will need to upload several documents.  The list below also includes links to assist you with each document.

Specific directions on each are available in the AF Application Resources & Tips
