Preparing for Admission

- Standardized Tests: Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
- Experience/Exposure: Helpful resources for gaining the necessary hands-on experience can be found on the AAMC website (Experience Resource Guide)
- Letters of Recommendation: The College of Wooster does not offer a Committee Letter. Applicants should aim for 5 letters: 2 STEM faculty, 1 non-STEM faculty, 2 professionals from extracurricular activities (coach, supervisor, PI, etc.)

The Admission Cycle
- There is a Centralized Application Process (AMCAS) that most MD/PhD schools participate in.
- The application opens in May and can be submitted in late May/early June. Check the AAMC website for details.
- Applications can be submitted in late May/early June and the earlier the application is submitted, the better
- Application deadlines: AMCAS application deadline dates vary by school and are listed on the AMCAS Schools and Deadlines page. Early decision deadline is August 1, regular deadlines range from August through December.
- Application closes: Varies by school (Information can be found in the MSAR)
- Fees: There are different fees for submitting the primary application and secondary applications. AAMC has a Cost of Applying to Medical School resource.
- Fee waivers: There is a Fee Assistance Program to help cover the cost for those eligible students.
