Advising Students for Study Abroad

The Global Engagement Office at the College of Wooster encourages faculty and staff to assist students every step of the way during their study abroad/away experiences.  Academic advisors and faculty are our first spokespersons encouraging students to consider incorporating study abroad experiences in their four-year plan.

Study abroad at the College of Wooster is offered to students of all majors and all backgrounds. Studying abroad allows students to earn academic credit, experience hands-on learning, develop global competencies, gain effective communication skills, and prepare for their futures.

The Global Engagement Office offers over 160 programs , including faculty-led programs (TREKs). These programs have been through an extensive evaluation process and are endorsed by the College. These programs allow students to:

  • Remain a full time undergraduate student while studying abroad
  • Earn Wooster credit
  • Use eligible financial aid toward college tuition

Students can also petition for a program not listed in our endorsed list, for which the students will have to complete a petition for non-endorsed programs. It is recommended that students wishing to petition for a non-endorsed program meet with a GEO director before beginning the petition process.

If you have a question about specific programs, the designated contact can be found on www.geo.wooster.edu.  If you want to request a class presentation or if you or your students have general questions, contact geo@wooster.edu

Review this site for more information if you’re interested in potentially planning your own TREK.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Your support of the Global Engagement Office and Wooster students is very valuable to us. Thank you!
