The Social Media Coordinator helps to execute the National Aquarium’s brand/reputational strategy through its various social and owned channels. This role works closely with the Social Media Manager and the Director of Digital Strategy to discover, source and deliver relevant content for the Aquarium’s social media platforms that is timely and relevant to our audiences.
Key Requirements:
- Assist with the composing of original, relevant content in adherence with AP style. This includes written content production, video production and more.
- Helps to oversee social media engagement activities (crafting and planning content, posting, and tracking posts across various social media platforms)
- Storyboard, film, and edit short form video content, such as TikToks and Reels
- Fosters strong relationships between the social media team and other departments to ensure all projects meet the high-quality brand standards of the National Aquarium
- Ensures the Aquarium maintains the highest levels of social care, ensuring questions and comments from the social audience are responded to in a timely manner
- Assists in the development of the team’s editorial calendar, incorporating the needs and goals of various teams to support business initiatives and strategic priorities
- Acts as an advocate for brand integration within the organization, encouraging appropriate incorporation of social media and other owned channels in relevant projects
- Stays current with all social media industry developments and best practices and provides ongoing insights to Social Media Manager and Director of Digital Strategy
- Reports social media performance through analytics weekly, monthly and often per campaign analytics. Provides benchmark data to inform department decisions.
- Monitors/listens to social media audiences and external stakeholders to establish and update lists of influencers, engaging as directed
- Responsible for building social partnership annual plan
- Required to be onsite in the Baltimore office up to four days a week
- Other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism or Communications
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years of social media and communications experience (School/Internship coursework may be applied in lieu of work experience)
- Proficiency with both social platforms including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok
- Proficiency with social media scheduling software is prefered but not required
- Interest and ability to learn how to film social videos for social (Instagram Stories, TikTok etc.)
- Success with managing and performing projects in a multi-tasking environment
- Experience with tight deadlines
- Demonstrated superior verbal and written skills
- Interpersonal communication skills
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends
- A strong interest in marine science, sustainability and/or museum work is required
The annual salary is $40,000- $45,000.
