Technical Sales Representative

Position Summary
Under the direction of IPEC’s President-Owner, the Technical Sales Representative sells pumps, compressors, and meters using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to assist IPEC customers in identifying and applying the right products / services for their needs. The Technical Sales Representative also participates and provides feedback and input from current customers on the marketing, strategic planning, and technical development of product and service offerings.
As a key player in helping to generate new revenue sources and grow IPEC’s customer base, the Technical Sales Representative combines a passion for customer service with superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills to help customers overcome industry-specific challenges.
In addition, this role will be instrumental in helping to further IPEC’s reputation and 70+ years of experience as a leading industrial equipment provider.
Essential Functions
The Technical Sales Representative works as part of a dynamic, collaborative team to:
- Establish long-term, continuous customer relationships and develop a strong rapport with customers at the appropriate levels of the organization.
- Maintain regular contact and communication with key accounts via in-person or on-site visits, or via phone and email to help assess customer needs and feedback.
- Prepare and implement key account plans and strategies that support and further IPEC’s strategic planning.
- Identify opportunities to market the value of products to existing and targeted customers.
- Help expand IPEC’s market share by capturing new account sales and growing existing customer business.
- Research, develop, and qualify potential new leads or customers.
- Gather and document competitive pricing and marketing information.
- Participate in cross-functional sales and/or service center reviews.
- Maintain up-to-date customer service center repair and maintenance requests.
- Document and regularly update new or existing customer information — contact records, service and maintenance checks, and communication history — in the IPEC CMS
- Submit expense reports in a timely fashion.
- Follow and comply with all safety and workplace rules and regulations.

The Technical Sales Representative must be able to successfully:
- Manage a variety of projects simultaneously by maintaining direction, communicating specific customer needs, and demonstrating a high level of organization to meet project or customer deadlines.
- Create, maintain, and contribute to a collaborative team environment by building productive relationships and working effectively with employees at all levels, both internally and with customers
- Communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal contexts to convey or demonstrate complex, technical concepts.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding sensitive customer, product, or service information, and adhere to IPEC’s core philosophy of ethical business and customer relations practices.
- Work in MS Office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Receive feedback or constructive criticism to help improve individual performance, promote a more team-oriented mindset, or develop the professional skills necessary for growth or success.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with emphasis on business, engineering, sales/marketing, or a related field
- Sales or business development experience — sales or business development experience in the industrial space is helpful but not required.
Position Type/Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. The standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This role will have its own dedicated workspace with a variety of new equipment, including an iMac computer.
Travel/Relocation
This role will work out of IPEC’s brand new, state-of-the-art facility located in Macedonia, Ohio. This role is expected to travel up to 50% of standard workdays.
Compensation/Benefits
This position’s salary ranges from $60,000 to $110,000 per year based on experience. Benefits include:
