GenomOncology is looking for a Clinical Genomics Curator Intern to evaluate and interpret cancer genomic variants for inclusion into our precision oncology software solutions. The curator will read, understand, and synthesize documents related to precision medicine, including molecular-based FDA drug approvals, NCCN treatment guideline documents, molecular-based clinical trial protocols, and targeted oncology literature. The curator then uses GenomOncology’s Precision Oncology Platform (POP) to input these results into our database using structured ontologies and nomenclature for drugs, diseases, genetic alterations, etc. The curator will identify and propose solutions to challenges that arise and will contribute to further developing our curation workflow and structured ontologies in order to advance our goal of automating clinical interpretation to the greatest extent possible. The curator will also contribute new content related ideas to add and complement existing workflows. Ideal candidate would work 10 hours/week and continue through the summer. This position is paid.
Responsibilities:
· Using standard operating procedures, the Clinical Genomics Curator is responsible for the curation and interpretation of cancer genomic variants and therapeutic knowledge information obtained from internal resources, external databases, and scientific literature.
· Updating and analyzing clinical trial information
· Ensuring the data integrity of the system by executing quality assurance and quality control of all data.
· Staying current on oncology clinical practices, precision oncology, cancer biology
· Helping develop processes to improve the operations of the Content Team
· Curating assigned content according to priorities outlined by the Director of Product Management and Content Team Manager.
Qualifications:
· Pursing degree in genomics, biotechnology, cellular biology, molecular biology, clinical research or related field
· Knowledge of targeted therapies, next-generation sequencing technology, genomics, clinical informatics, molecular diagnostics, pharmacology, and cancer biology.
· Ability to quickly assess, interpret, integrate, and reassemble relevant medical and scientific literature.
· Ability to create thoughtful, meaningful content through curation of genomic and clinical information
· Ability to review, analyze and organize information
· Exceptional attention to detail is needed along with a curiosity about genomic related data and insight to ask a variety of questions
· Drive to take initiative and work independently as well as collaborate in a cross functional team
