Paraprofessional – up to 6 positions available, Creative Arts Therapies Department—Hourly
Position Summary: Paraprofessionals will assist Creative Arts Therapies classes facilitated by Beck Center for the Arts staff at after school programming in the Lakewood City School District (LCSD). Each location will have 6 weeks of art and 6 weeks of music programming.
Locations: 3 positions at Emerson Elementary, 3 positions at Horace Mann Elementary
Start date: January 30th-April 23rd 2024
12 weeks of programming
Tuesdays: Approximately 3:00-4:15 PM weekly
Responsibilities:
Assist children from the classroom to after school programming at the end of the school day.
Assist creative arts therapies staff while they facilitate programming.
Assist children during programming as needed (i.e. bathroom assistance, breaks, behaviors, redirection, participation).
Assist children from the program to pickup area and remain with the children until transportation arrives (marked by timesheet).
Qualifications (in compliance with LCSD guidelines):
A passion for working with children with a variety of special needs to be successful and have fun in a recreational environment.
Have or obtain an education aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education
Meet the guidelines of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), which require ONE of the following:
48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours from an Institution of Higher Education;
Hold an Associate Degree or higher; or
Successfully complete the ODE mandated para assessment.
Be trained or willing to be trained for any necessary medical care related to a child that may be enrolled in programming and require such care.
Experience with special education environments highly preferred.
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour (approximately 1.25 hours weekly)
