As an intern Intervention Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in helping our students succeed academically and reach their full potential.
Position Overview:
As an Intervention Special Education Teacher Intern at Legacy Academy of Excellence , you will work closely with our diverse student population to provide specialized support to those with special educational needs. You will collaborate with the Special Education team, classroom teachers, and other professionals to design and implement targeted interventions that address individualized learning goals and support student growth.
Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to identify students’ learning needs and create Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on their unique requirements.
- Instructional Planning: Collaborate with the Special Education team and general education teachers to develop and implement effective, research-based intervention strategies that align with students’ IEP goals.
- Small Group Instruction: Provide direct instruction to small groups of students, tailored to their specific needs in areas such as reading, math, and social skills.
- Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and track students’ progress, making data-driven adjustments to instructional methods and materials as needed.
- Differentiation: Adapt instructional materials and techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring equitable access to the curriculum.
- Behavioral Support: Implement positive behavior support plans, and foster a classroom environment that promotes student engagement, motivation, and social-emotional growth.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, parents, and external service providers to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to student support.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in special education and intervention strategies.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing or re
- Recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Strong commitment to serving at-risk students in an urban setting.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Empathy, patience, and a passion for helping students succeed.
