Where I Went, What I Learned; Wooster Shares Their Transformative Travel Experiences – Megan Conklin

Megan Conklin ’23: Assistant Director of Annual Giving

“I learned about Vikings but also about myself!”

Where I Went:

Stockholm, Sweden

Why I Went:

I went to Stockholm to study abroad during my time as a Wooster student.

What I Learned:

My program was through DIS and my main class was called “Vikings and Power.” I became well acquainted with medieval Scandinavia and how we can connect the lives and imagery of the medieval Viking with the representation of Vikings today. In addition to my academic pursuits, I also learned much more about myself. I gained confidence in my abilities, having successfully navigated new countries all on my own. I also spent a lot of time reflecting on what I found to be important to me! Sweden, and DIS, provided a great environment for me to grow a deeper understanding of myself and my connection to the world.
