Credit Transfers

All courses taken abroad at an accredited university or program and completed with a U.S. grade equivalent of “C” or above will automatically be applied as general credits toward graduation.

If you need the courses taken abroad to apply in a specific way, you will need to get authorization from the relevant department chair or dean using the Transferring Academic Credit to Wooster form.

  • To request that the credit count toward your major or minor, follow instructions in the form, titled “Step 3: Contacting Department Chair” to request permission from that department’s chair.

  • To request that the credit count toward your general graduation requirements, follow the second set of instructions, titled “Step 3 cont.: If necessary, contact the Dean for Curriculum and Academic Engagement,” to submit your request to the DCAE.

You must submit one (1) form for each class for which you are seeking approval. You can complete this form before, during, or after your study away experience. However, doing it after your experience is done will delay these courses appearing on your Wooster Transcript.

Note: Department chairs will want you to send them a syllabus for the course. Syllabi can be obtained online or by contacting your program.

Reminder: Grades you earned abroad will not factor into your Wooster GPA but will appear on the host university or program transcript.

If they have not done so already, have your program mail your official transcript to the Wooster Registrar Office:
