Design Your Own Internship with Recreation Unlimited, a Camp for Children & Adults with Disabilities
Recreation Unlimited is a non-profit in Delaware, Ohio that offers camps and respites to children and adults with disabilities.
Lauren Ganson, Camps and Intake Coordinator and Wooster grad, said this in an email to Becky Webb, suggesting this as an opportunity for Pathways students,
“As a recent Wooster graduate and camp counselor, I [based my IS around] the families we serve. We have also offered some internships in the past such as:
- An environmental science internship where the student worked as a program leader but also conducted stream studies on our stream,
- A communications internship where they worked as a counselor but also used their experience with our campers as internship studying varying forms of communication and communication equipment.
We truly leave it in [students’] hands to present internship ideas to us, and we find ways for them combine their work experiences and internships in order for them to be paid and have housing available to them.”
