Career Journey Summary, Wooster to Fall 2024: I wanted to work in the environmental field. I quickly realized that that means so many pathways. I loosely group those as, non-profit, public sector (government), and private sector consulting, typically working for public sector clients.

I began in an environmental non-profit that lobbies state and federal government to influence environmental policies. I went to graduate school for environmental science and public affairs. My first job out of graduate school was for a state government (Indiana) water quality office. Next I moved into environmental consulting on hazardous materials investigations. I stayed in consulting but moved companies and specialties to work on the environmental documentation and permitting required for infrastructure projects. I have worked at three different engineering firms to support transportation, transit, and utility projects obtain the clearances they need to build roads, bridges, bus lines, etc.
