At Wooster, I double majored in Biology and Anthropology while also engaging in the Public Health and Museum and Archival Studies Pathways. For my senior independent study, I integrated my majors and Pathway experiences into a single project studying the evolutionary effects of the plague (Y. pestis) in China.
Currently, I am an anthropology Ph.D. student and Madison and Lila Self Graduate Fellow at the University of Kansas, studying under Dr. Kelsey Jorgensen in an anthropological genomics lab. My proposed project will look at the genetic implications of the 1918 influenza pandemic in Kansas. Similar to my I.S., I will continue to use the skills I learned from my pathways to explore historic and modern public health.
