Internship Responsibilities:
- Understand the overall concept and role that the nutrition department provides to a charter school district.
- Build an understanding of, and ability to functionally support the role of nutrition director of a school district.
- Actively participate in learning and executing the functions of the role including sanitation audits, menu planning, nutrition education, demographic analysis, data collection and reporting, budgeting, vendor relations, and staff in-service education.
- Understand and assist at all levels of food production including placing and receiving orders, meal planning, food preparation, serving, directing student aides, and cleaning & sanitizing procedures.
- Communicate with Registered Dietitians in connected roles and build an understanding of how RDs and other food & nutrition staff function together.
- Contribute to the overall wellness of the students and/or staff at UCP of Central Florida.

Qualifications
Education requirements:
- Must be an actively enrolled college student in a dietetic, nutrition, or culinary track.
Minimum Education Completion:
- HS degree or GED
- Time management and multi-tasking.
- Interpersonal skills, ability to work with a team or individual work.
- Ability to work with students and staff with various special needs.
- Professionalism, including an understanding of HIPAA and FERPA laws.
- Knowledge of basic nutrition principals.
- Oral and written communication ability, computer literacy, and basic budgeting ability.
