Overview
The I.T. Security Intern will be responsible for: managing Security, Identity and Access Management solutions; enforcing general security standards; and complying with requirements of external security audits & recommendations. Project to include – Phishing tests and reporting, user security education, Microsoft security tools use and automation projects.
This paid internship is located in Oakbrook Terrace (Illinois) – 40 hours per week
You will be required to be in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays and on days that internship events are held.
Responsibilities
• Monitor security system logs (i.e., Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Web Application Firewall (WAF), Office365, Firewall system logs, etc.) and reports on discovered anomalies or problems.
• Analyzes, troubleshoots, and corrects security-related problems according to published standards.
• Conducts violation / vulnerability report review under the leadership of the Senior I.T. Security Analyst/ Auditor.
• Investigates IT security violations, known vulnerabilities, and data breaches.
• Participates in vulnerability assessments; conducts compliance activities in response to internal and external audits.
• Executes security incident response procedures in accordance with threat levels.
• Provides security guidance to other support teams.
• Develops security knowledge articles on relevant topics
• Should be comfortable in a fast-paced development environment that continually embraces the latest technologies and techniques.
Qualifications
• Pursuant of a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science or another related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willing to work on a variety of information security functions that Joint Commission utilizes. Enjoys staying abreast of the development in area of professional competence.
• Exposure to one or more of the following: Identity and Access Management; Single Sign-on, SSL & PKI, LDAP, Active Directory, and PowerShell. Experience with firewalls a plus.
• Experience with HIPAA and PCI compliance requirements preferred.
• Stays abreast of the development in area of professional competence.
• Ability to support effective presentations.
• You will participate in training throughout your internship. The training program will expose you to our culture and provide you with a strong knowledge base to prepare you as you start your career in IT
• Works under general supervision of a guardian along with established procedures and policies.
