We offer investors and money managers intelligent, racial justice-oriented data to leverage capital markets in addressing mass incarceration. Our comprehensive datasets include:
- Vendor Transaction Data: Tracking financial relationships between corrections departments and over 3,000 publicly traded companies, providing insights into corporate involvement in the prison system.
- Criminal Justice Benchmarking: Evaluating companies on fair chance hiring practices and prison labor risk mitigation, enabling investors to align portfolios with social justice values.

At FreeCap, we believe in empowering investors with data to make informed decisions that promote corporate accountability and social equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Storytelling & Visuals: Design data-driven infographics, charts, and dashboards that communicate key trends in criminal justice dataset and corporate risk.
- Newsletter & Substack Content: Develop visually engaging graphics that enhance FreeCap’s Substack and newsletter insights.
- Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Identify patterns, trends, and outliers in vendor contracts and corporate ESG data.
- Collaboration: Work with our research and content teams to craft data-backed narratives that resonate with investors and policy professionals.
- Tool Utilization: Leverage Python (Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly), R (ggplot2, Shiny), Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to visualize data.
Ideal Candidate:
- Graduate students, postdocs, or professionals with a background in data science, public policy, ESG investing, or social impact research.
- Strong data visualization and storytelling skills using Tableau, Power BI, ggplot2, D3.js, or similar.
- Experience with Python, R, SQL, or other data processing tools.
- Passion for ESG investing, corporate accountability, and human capital research.
- Experience designing data-driven content for newsletters, blogs, or academic reports (preferred).
Contract Details & Compensation:
- Commitment: 5–10 hours per month (flexible schedule)
- Remote Contract with potential for long-term collaboration
- Compensation: $50 – $75 per hour, or academic credit
