- Are in good academic standing
- Are in good standing according to the Scot’s Key
- Are enrolled at The College of Wooster, or in an endorsed off-campus study program, the semesters preceding and following the internship.
- Students are eligible to receive the Micro Fellowship award twice during their time at Wooster.
- International Students may intern in their home country with no additional requirements.
- International Students interning while in the U.S. (on-site or remote) must follow all requirements related to registering for credit and CPT and verifying the internship is directly related to their major. Students should make appointments with ISS and the Associate Dean for Experiential Learning in APEX.
- Internships that take place over Winter or Summer breaks
- must begin after final exams of the current semester and end before the first day of class of the following semester
- On-site, Remote, or a combination of experiences
- Unpaid or under-paid (less than $15/hour) experiences
- Internships that are not receiving funding from any other College of Wooster source
Funds are dispersed after the successful completion of the internship after we receive a signed acceptance letter and completed and verified internship hours. In addition, all Training Moodle assignments must be completed and graded.
All payments are by direct deposit to the student’s U.S. bank account. It could take up to 6 weeks to receive your funding.
- for a College of Wooster office / program
- for programs already funded by the College of Wooster (e.g. APEX Fellowships, AMRE, Sophomore Research, ARCH, etc.)
- with a College of Wooster professor on a research project
- at your family’s enterprise
- under the direct supervision of a family member
- in any other situation that does not follow best practice as evaluated by APEX
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the end of semester deadline. Students are encouraged to apply early in case funding runs out.
Winter Micro Fellowship
When: Internship, job shadow, or other related experience to occur between December and January
Hours: Minimum of 45 hours
Funding:
For unpaid experiences: Total award = $500
For underpaid experiences: Total award = $500 minus Host Organization contribution.
Application Deadline: Last day of Fall semester, 5PM.
Experiential Requirements: Recipients will be enrolled in a course on the Training Moodle platform and will:
- Complete pre-experience preparation work
- Complete a career exploration activity using Ask a Scot
- Submit a 500-750 word written reflection responding to the provided prompts
- Submit 3-4 photos of themselves engaged in their internship
Summer Micro Fellowship
When: Internship, job shadow, or other related experience to occur between May and August
Hours: Minimum of 85 hours
Funding:
For unpaid experiences: Total award = $1500
For under-paid experiences: Total award = $1500 minus Host Organization contribution.
Experiential Requirements: Recipients will be enrolled in a course on the Training Moodle platform and will:
- Complete pre-experience preparation work
- Complete a career exploration activity using Ask a Scot
- Submit a 500-750 word written reflection responding to the provided prompts
- Submit 3-4 photos of themselves engaged in their internship
- Earn a Linked In Learning Certificate
