That African proverb, “it takes a village,” certainly applies to providing global experiences for college students. Faculty and staff members across campus are team members in guiding students to a study abroad or study away experience and providing support throughout the process.

Faculty are the lynchpin of this process. They assist by:

  • Planting the seed regarding study abroad opportunities,
  • Inviting GEO representatives into their classes,
  • Discussing program options with students,
  • Reviewing and approving course equivalencies,
  • Revising 4-year plans to include a semester off campus,
  • Providing recommendations,
  • Developing TREK programs,
  • And the list goes on.

The Global Engagement Office would like to take this opportunity to thank faculty members and invite you to check out the resources on this page that we hope will make your job easier and entice an even closer partnership.

Never hesitate to contact the Global Engagement Office if you have questions, concerns, or decide to develop a TREK!

Advising Resources

Advisory Committee

The Global Engagement Advisory Committee supports the work of the Global Engagement Office. The committee addresses policy and procedural issues, reviews requests to endorse specific global engagement programs (domestic and international), and reviews petitions of students wishing to participate in global engagement programs.

The Advisory Committee  is made up of four faculty members and the Dean of Curriculum and Academic Engagement. Faculty assignments are made by the Faculty Committee on Committees with one member representing the Department of Global and International Studies and one member representing the World Languages faculty. Faculty positions are held for one academic year, and GEO welcomes and appreciates the interest of all faculty members. Committee meetings are held on alternating Tuesday afternoons from 4:10 – 5:00 p.m. in the APEX Conference Room.
